Western Digital usb based external hard disk not detected by Windows XP?
Western Digital usb based external hard disk not detected by Windows XP. At my office PC, it works fine but at home pc problem comes, Official documentation say that no driver required on windows xp and it should be detected by plug and play. Any way, on inserting cable in usb port, installation wizard runs and in end shows can not detect any driver.I have try to select location c:/windows/inf. Except that I have installed sm bus driver but no solution is working. Please help
Other usb device like flash disk are working fine on pc but External hard disk is giving problem ...
You might check your bios and make sure usb 1.1/2.0 is selected under the on-board perpetuals screen. Remember bios's are different you may have to look for it.
I have to ask you do have XP SP2 installed.
Can't think of anything else.........do other usb devices work properly.
