Prevent Hard Drive Failure?
I just bought a brand 1.5tb Western Digital Caviar Green sata hard drive and want to run some type of tests to make sure it would not fail in the future before I put valuable data on it. What tool should I use to test it against future failure?
Harddrive failure like you are talking about is not very predictable. The best you can do is look at the track record of the company, and hope.
Keep your drive defragmented, keep it from getting too hot, try and not let it vibrate too much, and dont jiggle it while it's spinning/on. Those are the basic ways of extending it's life.
